Stand Against Gender Based Violence Through Theater – Erasmus+ project 2022-2024
All partner organizations need professional development on gender issue for their staff involved in youth education to stand against gender violence which has risen in all countries as a result of the sharp rise in domestic violence during lockdowns across Europe
Especially the time young people were spending on digital devices with national stay-at-home orders due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has given rise to cyber harassment and violence towards girls which continued even after the bans during the pandemic have been lifted and the lock-downs have ended, more and more cases of violence being signed: physical and psychological violence, stalking, harassment, insults, sexist language and jokes
Youth workers, trainers and all those involved in youth education were faced with an unprecedented situation and realized that they need new competences on gender education to stand against gender violence, cyber harassment, gender discrimination and social exclusion; that they need conceptual tools on gender role, gender stereotypes, that they themselves need to get rid of prejudices about gender roles and gender stereotypes- only then they will be able to stand against sexism, gender based violence and gender discrimination in real life or online; they also need focuses on the complex interaction of gender with other identity markers such as race, ethnicity, sexuality; and they need non-formal methods of transmitting the knowledge gained to the young people they work with and who faced gender violence in real life or online. That’s why we proposed and won this project against Gender Based Violence which is necessary !
